LKS2 News01 Jan 1970What a week it has been in Years 3 and 4 this week! We have had poetry competitions, a strike day and an Viking INVASION!
Firstly, all the staff in the phase would like to thank the children for competing in this year’s Poetry Slam. After fighting off some stiff competition and performing powerful performances, Clayton Simpson, Leah Beynon and Misk Ismail all made it through to the Poetry Slam Grand Final at tomorrow’s Summer Fair. Please come along and watch at 3pm. Thank you also to parents for supporting your child in either writing a poem of practicing it.
On Thursday, Years 3 and 4 were invaded by a Viking warrior called Olaf. He shared his life story with us, taught us all about the Viking way of life and helped us battle the Anglo-Saxons. The children really enjoyed the experience and, once again, thank you to parents for all the time, care and expense that went into those Viking outfits and costumes! The staff were really blown away by how authentic and great the children looked and it really helped to add to the magic of the day. As well as the workshop with Olaf, children also created their own Viking shield and baked traditional Viking rye bread and oat cakes.
Next Tuesday afternoon is KS2 Sports Day. Children are already excited about one of the most popular days of the year and we hope that you can share it with us. Fingers crossed for dry weather!
