WOW! The children have really impressed us this week in Years 3 and 4 with their amazing enthusiasm for the new term! The children have begun learning about the properties of 2D shapes, including how to compare and classify them, based on certain criteria, in Venn diagrams. Children have also got stuck into grammar and tenses this week in English! Pupils have had to change sentences into the past, present or future tense by changing the verb in that particular sentence– not an easy task so well done everyone.
Our new topic– VIKINGS– got off to a fantastic start with our trip to York DIG. Whilst there, pupils took part in a series of workshops, becoming archaeologists digging up Viking treasure and artefacts and became Viking guards and soldiers, learning some basic Viking warfare maneuvers. Children discovered that Yorvik was a trading capital for the Vikings, learning what they traded and how they paid for goods 1,000 years ago. The children were impeccably well behaved and thoroughly enjoyed the visit and were full of enthusiasm for discovering more about these Nordic men from Scandinavia.
Please note– swimming resumes for Year 4 next Wednesday 27th April and there is a literacy workshop for parents on Thursday 19th May at 2pm.
