Key Stage 1 Weekly News27 May 2016
Thank-you to all the parents/ carers and families who attended our phase event yesterday, we hope you enjoyed seeing how busy the children have been this half term!
This week we have been extremely busy, baking buns to sell at our phase event, writing our own fantasy stories and instructions. We have been improving our SPAG skills by adding conjunctions into our writing and adjectives to create more detailed images.
In Class 1 we have been learning how to find halves and quarters of an amount, which they have particularly enjoyed as food has been involved.
Class 2 have been learning how to tell the time to the hour and days of the week. This means they should no longer be asking ‘What time is it?’
Class 3 have been exploring different ways to make numbers between 0 and 100, using the four operations. Can you challenge us to see how many ways we can make a number you give us? We have also been using 2D shapes to create our own toy.
Mrs Hoyle, Mrs Skeet and Miss Wigmore are extremely proud of all the children and their attitude towards learning. We are especially proud of our Year 2 children, having such a positive attitude towards their SATs. Some of them actually wanted to do more.
Class 3 were asked what some of their favourite things have been this half term and here are some of their responses:
Ruby K: ‘Going to Kirkstall Abbey and pretending to have a drink in the old fashioned pub.’
Sajjad: ‘Learning how to do fractions. It was tricky at first, but now I can do it.’
Romey: ‘Making all of the different toys and learning about fractions. You know what, all of it. It’s been so much fun.
Our topic next half term is Pirates! We will be launching our topic with a Pirate themed day on Monday 6th
June so; please can all children wear a pirate costume to school. Let’s see how many children we have left at the end of the school year and how many have to walk the plank!Comments...« Previous Page
