Reception News - Spring 1 - Week 6 12 Feb 2016Well once again another week has ended signaling the end of our half term. I can honestly say that the children in reception have learnt more this half term than any other cohort of children I have worked with, which makes me and my team very proud.
In addition, the effort and pride shown in the learning log homework just confirmed how well these children are doing. So thank you to all those parents who gave up their time to create some master pieces with your children. I hope you enjoyed the whole experience?!
We are continuing to make great strides into the use of our phonics and children are starting to choose writing as an activity of choice. After the holidays we will be focusing on long vowel phonemes which is tricky, so it could be the theme of our next parent workshop. Please let me know if this would be valuable?
In maths, the children are focusing on counting to and from 20. Please can you work with your child on recognition of the teen numbers if they do not already know them?
Our topic next half term will be MONEY! We will be looking into the use of money, its impact and enter-prise. For those eager beavers who are wondering what the learning log will be, we will be holding a market in the last week of the term. So the children will have to think of a prod-uct that they can make and sell.
So, I bid you farewell and wishing you all a lovely holiday, I know the staff and the children need it!
