Welcome to Class 7. We are a class of Year 4 and Year 5 children. Our teacher is called Mr Gamble and it is his first year teaching at Cookridge Primary. In class we are supported by Mrs Adams, Mrs Bowers and Mrs Pattison.
On Wednesdays we are taught my Mrs Haslam. She likes to teach us Science and has us doing all kinds of experiments- so far this year we have used sheep skulls, pig hearts and thermometers. We are also taught by Mrs Barnes for Handwriting and Spelling and by Mrs Laycock for PSHE and R.E. Because we have pupils in Years 4 and 5, it occasionally means that the class is split up during the week. On a Monday the Year 4’s go swimming with Mr Gamble and Mrs Barnes to Holt Park Leisure Centre while the Year 5’s stay at school and have P.E. with Mr Llewellyn. Those of us who are in Year 5 go to Whitby later in the year, where we visit the Abbey and enjoy walks along the beach as we go fossil hunting and look at coastal erosion. The Year 4s will experience this excellent trip next year!
Our current year of Humanities, with the focus title “In Pursuit of Peace” has meant we have been on several visits already and also had people in to talk to us. We have studied the geography and history of the local area, designed new buildings for the old Ralph Thoresby site, had a visit from a council planning officer, and been on a visit to Horsforth to study another area of Leeds, been to Eden Camp as part of our World War 2 study and been on a seed and berry hunt around Golden Acre Park.
